Zebra Mussel Control
Zebra Mussels are an invasive species wreaking havoc across Texas Lakes. They disrupt aquatic life and ecosystems and clog water supply infrastructure including public water intakes and hydroelectric generation facilities.
Without the implementation of mitigation strategies, dense colonization of zebra mussels can damage pumping and water treatment systems, reduce hydraulic capacity, cause taste and odor issues, and increase electrical and maintenance costs.
Walker Partners has developed specialized zebra mussel control methods including chemical oxidants and antifouling or foulant-releasing paints and coatings to prevent settlement and attachment and induce mussel mortality.
We are currently implementing zebra mussel control projects on Lake Travis for the City of Cedar Park, City of Leander, Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority, and Lakeway Municipal Utility District.
