This portion of the Project consists of the separation of PP6 from PP4 and providing PP6 with an independent elevated storage. Included in this Project is the construction of two (2)-5,000 gpm low head pumps (300 HP total) at the Old McGregor Pump Station site, a 3.0 MG ground storage tank near the intersection of Old McGregor Road and Ritchie Road, approximately 3,700 linear feet of 24” waterline from New Low Head Pump Station to the proposed ground storage tank, 1,000 linear feet of 12” waterline to the existing 12” Tater Hill feed line, meter vault, and elimination of two (2) PRV stations near Wickson Road.
This portion of the Project consists of the installation of 12,600 linear feet of 24” pipeline along Highway 84 from Wickson Road to FM 2148 (Old Lorena Road), 1,500 linear feet of river crossing, 500 linear feet of bores, and approximately 6,500 linear feet of 16-inch waterline. Advantages of the Project include eliminating the need for the problematic 12” City of Woodway transmission line, a redundant feed to PP6, increased service to PP6 to meet future demands, increased fire flow protection for the Highway 84 corridor, and major transmission main along the Highway 84 growth corridor.
The remaining improvements will provide needed flows to a growth area of the City to satisfy the projected future peak hour demands. The proposed system will provide a peak hourly capacity to PP6 of 7,800 gpm; thus, increasing the capacity from the existing peak hour capacity of 2,900 gpm. The proposed distribution system will consist of approximately 12,600 linear feet of 24-inch waterline from Wickson Drive to Speegleville Road where it will reduce in size to a 16-inch main and extend to the terminus at Bosque Lane. One significant challenge to this route is the crossing of the South Bosque River. We are proposing “directional drilling” beneath the River as the most cost effective and environmentally sensitive means of construction.

Three distinct of specifications and contract drawings will be prepared: 1) for the new pump station at the Old McGregor Pump Station site; 2) the ground storage tank (used as an elevated storage for Pressure Plane 6); and 3) all of the waterline work necessary to accomplish the work described above. The waterline bid package will include an “Additive Alternative” to extend the waterline across the McGregor Airport to Harris Creek Road.
