Walker Partners entered into a contract with the City of Killeen for the design of a trail within the City of Killeen Lion’s Park in March of 2010. This trail project consists of a reinforced concrete perimeter trail 10 feet in width as well as an extension of sidewalk to an existing baseball field complex. The 10 foot wide reinforced concrete trail is approximately 7,800 feet in length and will provide for an aesthetically pleasing path for park visitors to enjoy a pleasant walk within the park. The project will include landscaping, irrigation and trail lighting that will enhance the appearance and maintenance of the project for years to come.
Walker Partners design responsibilities for this project include, but are not limited to the following design elements and services:
A detailed design topographic survey that includes all existing park baseball fields, practice fields, Water Park, playgrounds & community center.
Establishment of a trail route that accommodates and enhances the existing park improvements.
Provides a design and plan for trail lighting that is safe for nighttime use without being offensive to users or adjoining neighborhoods.
Include landscaping and irrigation that will enhance the aesthetics of the trail as well as provide for easy maintenance.
Securing all approvals & permits for ADA compliance from TDLR & TxDOT.
Following completion of the design phase, Walker Partners will assist the City of Killeen in bidding of the project as well as managing the construction process and closing out the project. Our services include on site presence of a resident project representative that will monitor the construction for quality of construction and conformance with the plans and specifications.
