Walker Partners was selected by the City of Beverly Hills to design improvements to 1.1 miles of Memorial Drive through the City of which TxDOT will provide design review oversight.  This project consists of the reconstruction/improvement of an existing 2-lane, 19-foot wide rural road with an existing 60-70 foot right-of-way to a 42-foot wide urban minor arterial roadway.  Design criteria is based upon the more stringent TxDOT and City of Waco design guidelines for a 30 mph roadway.  The proposed curb and gutter section includes two 12-foot wide through lanes with a continuous 12-foot wide center acceleration/deceleration lane.  The design also includes sidewalks; storm drain systems (including the acquisition of 3 drainage easements); cross drainage culverts; water and wastewater; signing, delineation and pavement markings; traffic control; 26 residential and 87 commercial driveways for 114 property owners; and 19 cross street intersections.
